The Chicago Rise Chair has everything you want in a recliner: comfortable, smooth operation and stylish. The fabric cover perfectly balances between homely and luxurious, ensuring that it blends in with whatever décor you have in your home. You can get it in several styles including gold, green, cream and terracotta.

The chair smoothly and quietly reclines backwards while the footrest rises to a full snooze position. The chair can also help you get on your feet using its riser feature.

The only other features we would have liked to see are heating and vibration massage. But even with these absent, this remains one of the best and comfortable chairs you will ever snooze on.

1. Smooth and quiet recline

The chair has been equipped with a state-of-the-art motor that reclines the backrest and raises the footrest smoothly with barely a whisper.

To operate the recliner, there is a control hand-held gadget attached to a stitched holder on the right side. The gadget has two buttons and a safety key. Press the buttons to recline the chair, raise the foot rest and to return the chair to normal position.

The safety key is there to prevent any accidental movement that could cause injury. Once engaged, it prevents any movement if you accidentally press the buttons. This is especially crucial if you are buying this recliner for an elderly family member who might get trapped in an uncomfortable position.

2. Standing assistance

This is one of the best features of the recliner. It is also why the Chicago recliner is one of our top recommendations for older users.

If getting up from a chair is often a problem for you or a family member, this recliner can help. Just as it easily reclines into a comfortable position, it can also gently rise to help you get on your feet. Use the same recline buttons on the hand gadget to activate the lift function.

3. Soft and warm fabric

Most of the electric recliner chairs we review are made from leather or faux leather. This one consists of a luxurious Rembrandt fabric that comes all the way from a family company in Belgium. It feels incredibly soft and warm to the touch.

One obvious downside of the recliner having a fabric covering is the difficulty in maintaining it. Any stains or wetness cannot be simple wiped off as you would with other leather recliners.

How easy is it to use?

Note that the recliner is incredibly heavy – 150kg – so you’ll need at least two other sets of hands to help you carry it inside and set it up.
